“I Will Revitalise Another Inn for the Spirits”


Description

Aoi manages a diner at Tenjin-ya, a well-established inn operated by the spirits. While visiting Yōto in search of the missing Ōdanna, she learns about Ōdanna’s past and the underlying cuisine that defines the Kakuriyo tradition. What can she do for her cooking, then? Considering all these, Aoi went to the Northern Land to request their cooperation in recovering Ōdanna. Waiting for her in the beautiful yet secluded Snow Country is delicious, unknown local specialties and a reunion with a person she misses! And then, in return for a cooperation with Tenjin-ya, Aoi is asked to produce a tourism specialty for the revival of the Snow Country?!

Hello, I am not planning on translating Vol 8, unfortunately. I have limited time, and I will use it to translate some chapters from vol 10, 11, 12 and 13. Thank you for your visits…

Thank you for the message. My translation is voluntary, hence I do it whenever I have time, in between doing my day job and general life stuff. Since time is scarce for me, I translate only what I feel like translating. Since Vol 8 mostly do not have Ōdanna-sama (except for the last chapter), I skipped most of Vol 8.

As for Vol 9, I didn’t skip vol 9. In fact, vol 9 is the chapter I translated the most. However, I don’t want to breach copyright, hence I also don’t translate all chapters in Vol 9.

If it’s any consolation, the next translation will be Vol 10 Ch 6 where the Tenjin-ya team confronts the King and Raijū. I hope I can get it done around Christmas time (this year).

Thank you for all you do! I’m so eager to read them that I’m trying to find it online to purchase it so I can translate it myself, but I’m having a tough time finding it in Japanese

Thank you for your encouragement. My understanding is that they don’t sell the online version, possibly to prevent piracy… (cos it’s very easy to translate it to other languages if it’s in the online form). However, eBay has several sellers of the complete Japanese novel, including this one:

Kakuriyo Novel Volumes 7-11 Heavy Spoilers

A part of my Kakuriyo novel collection: Volumes 7-10.  This post contains HEAVY spoilers. You’ve been warned.  I’m at the moment translating Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi Vol 7 Ch 1 , following on the surprising news from Raijū in Vol 6 Ch 10 . There is no Ōdanna-sama in Vol 7 Ch 1 because of what happened in Vol 6 Ch 10, but we do have Aoi feeling his loss (which is great from the viewpoint of story development, but it’s still painful). In the same chapter, one of my 2nd most favourite characters, i.e. Byakuya-san (yep, now I actually have Byakuya and Hatori competing with Ginji for the runner-up in my heart), is in charge of the move to rescue Ōdanna and Tenjin-ya. Byakuya is actually going to be very active in this quest, hence he’s going to be a very close ally of Aoi’s. Surprising, really, because he was very cold when we first met him… (but then we realised he was a cat-lover, and I always forgive cat-lovers…).

Kakuriyo volumes 6-11 summary… and a reflection

Ōdanna & Aoi, art by Laruha This post contains the summary of Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi volumes 6-11 (Vol 11 is the Gaiden) per Amazon Japan. SPOILERS of course, so don't read it if you don’t want to know how the Kakuriyo stories continue. The summary does spill the bean of a very important aspect of Ōdanna and Aoi. However, the descriptions don’t spoil you that deep, because you still won’t know some mundane and important things, e.g. Ōdanna’s favourite food, his real name, and the reason for the events that take place in Vol 7-10. Oh, and you won't know whether Ōdanna would kiss Aoi or not, and if he would, when. Beforehand though, I’d like to make a short observation about some Kakuriyo haters. Perhaps “hate” is too strong a word, but I cannot help using that word whenever I come across some blogs/websites that consistently shred Kakuriyo to pieces. I won’t name the blogs here, but if you google “Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi”, it’s likely you’ll find 2-3 blogs that constantly...

Novel Vol 11 Chapter 6 (September: The Eccentric Ayakashi Pharmacy)

I am VERY sorry for the long hiatus after S2… things are quite busy with real life (and TBH, I am still reeling from the bad Ōdanna-sama animations in S2). However, I miss him. I miss Ōdanna-sama so much, and I bet many of us are missing him too. Therefore, I am translating a small chapter in Vol 11 where Ōdanna-sama is traveling to Asakusa Tokyo in Utsushiyo for a short trip. Vol 11 is after Raijū was defeated in Vol 10 and Ōdanna-sama was reinstated as the true Master of Tenjin-ya. I hope you like this short story. By the way, I’m returning the narration to present tense. I understand that past tense is the norm for stories in English, but for me, translating in present tense brings me closer to the feeling of Japanese novels, where scenes are depicted like unfolding dreams in front of us, instead of us retelling a dream we had last night… BY THE WAY!
