Season Two Ep 9 stills
The Kakuriyo anime team posted Season Two Ep 9 visuals one day late this week, but that's okay (hey, people might be under the weather etc, right... I know, because I am late for my deliverables due to some mild cold as well). The visuals are very interesting, and since I haven't read most of Vol 8 novel, I'm going to find a lot of surprising things, which is exciting too! I do wonder if they're going to change the OP and ED songs because Tōyama Nao has five songs in her Kakuriyo S2 album, and we have heard three of them (Toryanse, "Recipe for Tears" and "A Spoonful of Light"). It would be nice to hear "Utagoe wo Mejirushini" (“The Goal of My Singing Voice”) as OP2 and "Souiukanji no kaime"...(“The Kind of Feeling I Get”) ED2.
But first, let's go through the visuals.
First, we have Aoi in a very cool hooded coat and a cute newspaper-boy cap. I really thought it was a new character when I saw this still a few minutes ago. If Ōdanna-sama sees Aoi in this garb, he'll find her very adorable!
Then we have Byakuya with a new kimono with Ainu-like patterns. The kimono looks cool, and he looks different with this style of kimono. Will have to translate what the fan says here, but not sure I have time (and it's cursive, so a bit hard).
Then we have Aoi riding on Ginji's true form of the nine-tailed fox. Come to think of it, Ginji, Ranmaru and the tanukis are the only ayakashi of which true forms are regularly displayed. Also, where is Ranmaru? He's onboard, I know, because Vol 8 has him on the cover. I'd love to see him with a hoodie!
Then we have Chiaki-san. He was not onboard Seiranmaru, so he must have gone to the North earlier.
Then there's a meaty hotpot that Aoi cooked...
And a gorgeous snow castle. It might be the old castle by the lake in Vol 8 Ch 5.
Then we have Kasuga, Ginji and Aoi arriving at the castle (I think, from the background)...
And we have Kasuga's husband Kiyo, the current Hachiyō of the Northern Land.
Sorry for the short commentaries. As I said, I am quite clueless about Vol 8, so I'm going to learn about many things together with you. I do appreciate the Ainu-patterned kimono that Ginji, Byakuya, etc are wearing though. I think it's very appropriate. I think Yūma Midori sensei is sympathetic to the Ainu; it shows in her portrayal of the whole indigenous Kakuriyo tribes vs the invaders in the Kakuriyo history.
Thursday will be a very busy day for me, but I will try to watch it in the morning if I can. Might be a bit late again with the review... so, until Thursday evening or Friday evening then, for the Ep 9 review!
