Season Two Ep 11 stills
S2E11 stills are out! It's centred around Kasuga and Kiyo, but we have Aoi, O-Ryō and Ginji in action as well, oh, and Sasuke-kun is back! Surely we will see our hunk Ranmaru as well, but I don't think this episode has anything Ōdanna-related. And for that, I think my least favourite animation studio New Animate Studio is not in charge of the animation, and we may actually have good full-frame shots and generally well-drawn visuals...
How sad is that, for us to have decent animation, we must have no Ōdanna-related scenes when he's displayed in full, not just in aural form or dream sequence...
I could be totally wrong and will eat my hat on Thursday morning AEST, but I sadly think I am on the money here.
Okay, let's just look at the shots one by one. We first have Aoi and O-Ryō on the front cover (see above). Then we have Kasuga being happy.
Is that because she loves the tiramisu? And that it reminds her of her happy escape time with Kiyo in our world Utsushiyo?
If she's happy because of the tiramisu, I can see why. Even it's "just" animation, the tiramisu looks super good here! And we might actually have a cooking video on tiramisu later!
Even O-Ryō approves of the tiramisu, and it's important, because she's practically the Kakuriyo food magazine editor here!
We also have Sasuke-kun arriving to taste the tiramisu - well, and of course to provide more protection...
Because we know some people are trying to kill Kasuga and Kiyo, and it seems the situation is deemed serious enough to have Sasuke's presence.
Next we have Kasuga transforming into her tanuki form, but since Aoi and O-Ryō didn't look alarmed, maybe Kasuga was just sleeping because she ate too much tiramisu? Who knows. I have no time to check Vol 8...
But...
Anyway, the shot above reminds me of the sakura petal shots between Byakuya and Ōdanna-sama. Is Koeda Animation back to animate this episode? Koeda Animation did a marvellous job animating Season 2 Ep 6.

Then we have Kasuga... unconscious. Did she just take a bullet for Kiyo??? FFFFF!!! Yes, see the blood?!?! Our little tanuki was shot!

Ginji, Aoi and O-Ryō might be chasing up the culprit here. I'd love to see O-Ryō in action again! The only two times I saw her in action was when she intentionally made a street in Yōto slippery, thus Aoi fell (S1E3) and when the yuki-onna helped Kasuga retrieving the silver bracelet back in S2E3.
Oh, by the way, Ginji's form here is closer to his S1 Cour 2 form... so we might see the more Madara-like form this Thursday!
And a nice shot of O-Ryō again when she was about to beat up the culprit, perhaps.
Okay, so... we might have a wrap for the Northern Land episode this Thursday or early next week. Which means... we might have Vol 8 Epilogue for Ep 12 (animated by the sub-par New Animate Studio)... and a bit of Ōdanna-sama next week, who - for the love of all that is sacred - I hope is gorgeously animated, because we at least deserve as much...
Seriously, can we have a decent animation studio for the entirety of Cour 2 or Season 3, please? Get Koeda Animation and the studio that worked on Ep 8 or 9 for the job!

Lots of thoughts for Ep 11, but I have to give it to the script writer; it ends on a cliffhanger! The last time we had a cliffhanger in S2 was at the end of Ep 5 where Raiju tapped on Aoi's shoulder. Since I haven't read this chapter in Vol 8, I feel the cliffhanger more!
I will do my best to write a review tonight; still have to finish some real-world stuff...

I concur that this animation is much better. I think on the whole I am happier with no Odanna-sama if they are just going to portray him the way they did. Only 2 more episodes- this one and the final one. I wonder if we will even get to the end of Volume 9?
Initially, my first reaction was shock and outrage, looking at poor little bleeding Kasuga. But crisis such as these often serve as a circuit breaker to remind us what is important to us, and what we should be doing. Hopefully Kiyo gets a jolt here!
And yes, poor Kasuga! I don't know the level of magic for tanuki, but surely those bullets could kill ayakashi? Looking forward to seeing them catching the bad guy!

Asides from that rant, I'm really hoping to see some Kiyo x Kasuga for my romantic self, since Odanna-sama and Aoi can't do that for now. :")
Also, reading your Season Two Ep 10 review comments, I love how Anon talked about Ranmaru and Ginji's love life, but like wasn't Ginji the mischevious one when he was younger? It's kinda funny to see the tides changing and how Ranmaru would actually visit the red light district in his druken state, and Ginji holding him back haha. Ngl, I'm sure those in the red light district won't mind seeing Ranmaru and Ginji there haha.
Now, on Shiro dragging Odanna-sama to the red light district... somehow I think Odanna-sama went with Shiro because he wants to keep Shiro out of trouble haha... OMG Aoi is so funny that she actually believed the rumor that Odanna-sama has another woman and fainted when she saw him holding a baby, I can't lmao. It's 'cause he's too handsome, the prejudice against handsome men is that they're a womaniser haha (I think this was also the case for Loid in Spy x Family too).
Yeah, IKR! When I have time after all the marking season, I will look at S1 again to check the animation studio name(s). I will also check S2 episodes again and will make a list of animation studios for each episode. I know I like Koeda Animation for Ep 6, but there's also Cerebus or something for another episode I like (8 perhaps).
Oh yeah, Ginji was mischievous when he was young, and Ranmaru was the considerate one. Their personalities flipped so much that it's funny and sad too at the same time. yeah, I bet any girls would swoon to see these gorgeous ayakashi, one blushing, one daring, in any establishment!
And you might be right about Odanna-sama coming to the red light district with Shiro to keep him out of trouble, hahaha!
I read Vol 12 Ch 15 two nights ago about Aoi being a detective. It's funny but also sad for Aoi, and it's so cute to read how Setsu kept apologising to Aoi, but then he also cried (well, being super sad) because Aoi didn't trust him. So sweet!
Odanna-sama said Aoi will definitely be a great mother. Not only chidren he even already thinking about grandchildren, lol.
Aoi also said Odanna-sama will definitely be a great father and asked him who is his ideal father image. His answer is Byakuya! It make Aoi worry Odanna-sama will be a strict father 😆
Funny Odanna-sama managed to cheer Aoi up. They kissed in the end!
